// THE MIND & CHOICES \\

    We have choices to make with the thoughts of our mind.

Thoughts come from two directions the kingdom of light God and the kingdom of darkness the devil.  Good and evil.

God says: Philippians  4:8 And now, dear brothers and sisters, let me say one more thing as I close this letter. Fix your thoughts on what is true and honorable and right. Think about things that are pure and lovely and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. (NLT)

I was a smoker for many, many years.  When I started walking as a Christian I knew that I was setting a bad example by smoking but for a long I kept it up throwing money down the drain not to mention how bad it is for anyone’s  health.  Finally I stopped and WOW I never realized what a hold that had on me it was hard to drop that bondage I was in.  Six months later I was walking through Kmart to the backside of the store and walked through the aisle where they had tobacco products on the shelf there was a very strong tobacco odor.  The first thing that came to my mind was wouldn’t you like to have a smoke?  Oh would I ever.  Where did that thought come from?  Right from the devil of coarse.  NO I went through too much when I stopped and I’m not ever going through that again ever.  You see the devil comes back at people through their mind and he will keep coming back at you he knows your weak spots and will focus on them trying to get you again.  If he did it to Jesus he will sure try it on you believer.

So what did the devil pull on Jesus?

Matthew 4:1 {The Temptation of Jesus--} Then Jesus was led out into the wilderness by the Holy Spirit to be tempted there by the Devil.

3 Then the Devil came and said to him, "If you are the Son of God, change these stones into loaves of bread."

4 But Jesus told him, "No! The Scriptures say, 'People need more than bread for their life; they must feed on every word of God.' "

5 Then the Devil took him to Jerusalem, to the highest point of the Temple,

6 and said, "If you are the Son of God, jump off! For the Scriptures say, 'He orders his angels to protect you. And they will hold you with their hands to keep you from striking your foot on a stone.' "

7 Jesus responded, "The Scriptures also say, 'Do not test the Lord your God.'

8 Next the Devil took him to the peak of a very high mountain and showed him the nations of the world and all their glory.

9 "I will give it all to you," he said, "if you will only kneel down and worship me."

10 "Get out of here, Satan," Jesus told him. "For the Scriptures say, 'You must worship the Lord your God; serve only him.' "

11 Then the Devil went away, and angels came and cared for Jesus. (NLT)

Gary told me a long time ago that when he gets a bad thought he says get behind me.  That is good because that is what our example Jesus did.   Get out of here, Satan

Conclusion: Philippians  4:8 etc. etc. Fix your thoughts on  what is true and honorable and right etc.

Set your thoughts on the things that you know are right and realize the devil is going to place bad thoughts in your mind not just once but many times.  But the good news is you can overcome the devils bad thoughts the same way Jesus did Get out of here Satan

Proverbs 16:3 Commit your works to the LORD, and your thoughts will be established.  (NKJ)
